Florida Boot Camps for Troubled Teens

by Boot Camps on January 30, 2012

This is a difficult situation to talk about, but here I go. My nephew is just about to turn 13 years old and is having some serious social, school, and family issues. He is failing all his classes except for a D in P.E., and is constantly getting in trouble for disrespecting his teachers, other students and his parents.

From my perspective my brother is a great father that really cares about this kid, but his son will just not behave even when he is grounded or put on restriction. This kid just will not listen to anyone. My brother even had him drug tested and tested for any type of mental disorder. Every test indicates there is nothing wrong, yet the issues are right in front of us.

My brother’s wife stays at home to keep an eye on their son, but he is making even her life difficult. She assigns him chores,

but he will not do them and ends up being defiant to the whole parent child relationship. The whole family is at a loss at this point. My brother is seriously considering placing him in a boot camp for teens. We have researched some of them and feel that the structure, discipline, and respect these camps teach can really help with this kids attitude. The problem is that my brother is not wealthy by any measure and there is no way he could afford one of those camps.

We have looked for a free boot camp for boys, but have not been able to find one. Again, we are at a loss and would like to know if there are any free boot camps for teenagers? We would also like to hear about any other options that might be available, and what other parents have done when faced with this type of situation.

Try Timber Ridge in North Carolina. My siblings work there as physical fitness trainers and drill instructors. They attest to many changed lives as a result of the discipline, structure and self-confidence that results from their program. I don’t know if it is free but check it out.

I take care of a few kids that have some discipline problems and they are difficult at times, but we are training them with loving discipline. Tell your brother to get “Train Up a Child” and read it and then implement it.

You will need to call an officer of the juvenile detention center. He or she should be able to point you in the right direction from there. You have a larger problem than you think!
