Looking for a Fun and Adventurous Air Force Base

by Boot Camps on February 11, 2012

I am thrilled to be going to Air Force boot camp in just a few more months and I cannot wait to get started.  I have enlisted for 6 years and I am really looking forward to traveling and seeing parts of the world I would never normally get a chance to see.  I have talked to a lot of my relatives and friends who have served in the past and their stories have really got me motivated.  I just hope all my motivation is enough to make it through boot camp and the fitness test!

Assuming I do pass the test – and I’m pretty confident I will – I’m thinking about where I might be stationed.  I was born and raised in a small town in the Midwest, so I have never gotten a chance to enjoy the big city or any kind of urban nightlife.  What I would really like is to be stationed in a place where I can have lots of fun and maybe even a few adventures I will be able to tell my grandchildren one day.

As far as international bases go, I would love to be stationed anywhere in Europe or maybe in Japan.  I know those are two extremes geographically, but I love European and Japanese cultures and really think it would be an amazing experience.

Still, I want to find out more about some of the stations here in the States.  Can someone give me some of the details of their experiences being stationed at an Air Force base in the USA?  It does not matter where; I’m just curious about what life will be like on the base, what you were able to find to do for fun, and other details.

Since I am especially looking for some fun and adventure after I get out of boot camp, does anyone know of a US station that fits my description?  Thanks in advance for all your advice and experiences.  I am sure that they will help me figure out where I would most like to be stationed and how to enjoy myself over the next 6 years.
